The nbn is deploying a variety of technologies to connect homes and businesses across Australia. The maximum speed available at your premises depends on the type of technology the nbn uses in your area.

Technology Types #

All nbn access technologies that use a physical line (FTTP, FTTB, FTTC, FTTN, and HFC) are considered Fixed Line connections.

• nbn Fibre to the Premises (FTTP): A fiber optic line runs directly into your premises.
• nbn Fibre to the Building (FTTB): A fiber optic line runs to a node in your building, continuing via copper cabling.
• nbn Fibre to the Curb (FTTC): A fiber optic line runs to a DPU in your street, connected via copper cable.
• nbn Fibre to the Node (FTTN): A fiber optic line runs to a nearby street node, then connected via copper cabling.
• nbn Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC): A fiber optic line runs to a node, with a coaxial cable completing the connection.

Factors Affecting Your Internet Experience #
