FAQs

Got Questions? We’ve Got Answers!

Is FibreMAX®fone Home really free? What’s the catch?

Yes! FibreMAX®fone Home is completely free—there are no hidden costs, contracts, or ongoing charges for your home phone service. The only condition is that you must have your NBN service with FibreMax. Once your FibreMax NBN is active, your home phone service is included at no extra cost.

Can I keep my existing landline number?

Yes! You don’t need to change your number—we’ll transfer (port) your current landline number from your existing provider. The process is seamless, and we handle everything for you.

What kind of calls can I make for free?

With FibreMAX®fone Home, you get unlimited calls to:

  • Local numbers (within your area)
  • National numbers (anywhere in Australia)
  • Australian mobile numbers

There are no per-minute charges or additional costs for these calls.
Calls to 1300 numbers are charged at $0.39 as a flat rate per call.

Can I make international calls?

As standard, international calls are not enabled. Speak to your friendly account manager to activate this feature for you.

However, we recommend using alternative communication methods (such as WhatsApp, Zoom, or Skype) for international calls, as they can often be made at low or no cost.

How do I get started with FibreMAX®fone Home?

It’s easy! Just follow these three steps:

  • Check your address to see if FibreMax NBN is available
  • Select a FibreMax NBN plan that suits your needs.
  • Enjoy free home phone service—once your NBN is active, we’ll set up your home phone at no cost.
What do I need to use FibreMAX®fone Home?

You have two options:
Use your existing home phone – Simply plug it into a VoIP-enabled modem (most modern NBN modems support this)
Get a new VoIP phone – We can supply a VoIP-enabled desk phone or a Wi-Fi cordless phone if you need one

What if I don’t have a VoIP-enabled modem?

No problem! If your modem doesn’t support VoIP, we can provide:

  • A VoIP-enabled desk phone
  • A Wi-Fi cordless handset
  • Advice on compatible modems if you prefer to upgrade your own

We’ll guide you through setup to ensure everything works smoothly

Do I need to sign a contract?

No! FibreMAX®fone Home is contract-free. You can cancel anytime, and there are no lock-in agreements. If you ever decide to switch your NBN provider, the free home phone service will simply stop.

What happens if my internet goes down?

Since FibreMAX®fone Home runs over your FibreMax nbn connection, your phone service relies on your internet. However, if your internet goes down, voicemail-to-email ensures that callers can still leave messages, which you can listen to via your email.

How long does it take to activate my home phone service?

Once your FibreMax nbn service is active, we can set up your home phone within 1-2 business days. If you’re transferring an existing number, it may take a bit longer, but we’ll keep you updated every step of the way.

Will my home security system, medical alarm, or fax machine work with FibreMAX®fone Home?

Many older security and medical alarms rely on traditional landline technology, which may not be fully compatible with VoIP. We recommend checking with your alarm provider or switching to a mobile-based alarm solution.

For fax machines, we ofer a Fax2Mail service, which lets you receive faxes via email instead of a physical machine.

Can I block unwanted calls?

Yes! FibreMAX®fone Home includes basic call blocking features that allow you to filter out spam and nuisance calls. You can also set up a silent number if needed.

Simply email support to block a number instantly.

What makes FibreMAX®fone Home diferent from other home phone services?

Unlike traditional home phone providers, we don’t charge you anything for your home phone—as long as you have FibreMax NBN. Plus, you get:

  • Unlimited local, national & mobile calls
  • Voicemail to email so you never miss a call
  • No hidden fees, no contracts
  • The ability to use your own handset

Most providers charge a monthly fee for home phone service—we don’t.
